Over one hundred years ago W C Coleman worked as a typewriter salesman, while out visiting a client he spotted a lantern that was used gasoline instead of kerosene. Almost immediately Mr Coleman started to design and build his very own design of gasoline fueled lantern. After its initial launch it proved so successful that Mr Coleman patented the design. In 1915 due to the growing popularity the US government declared it an “essential item” this resulted in over 70,000 lanterns being distributed.
